PHI and the Gantry Welder 

A gantry welder is a welding system that includes beam assembly tables and a traveling gantry or bridge carrying the sub-arc welding heads used to join the beam plates.The assembled beam is stationary and the welding heads on the moving gantry follow the joints between web and flanges for the sub-arc welding.

PHI's Automatic Steel Beam Welders

PHI's Automatic Steel Beam Welding Line can produce typically 2000 tons of steel per month in a one-eight hour shift employing only three operators. This high production rate makes the automatic system ideal for large steel beam fabricators that can achieve significant production cost savings.

However, for those fabricators with lower production requirements such as 500 tons of steel per month, the Gantry Welder provides a lower acquisition cost while still obtaining the high quality beams typical of PHI Welding Systems. The Gantry Welder however requires additional manpower to operate.
